How to choose the right floor?

When people choose a floor, they most often look at the décor, colour, texture and price. Yet the longevity of the floor depends most of all on the substrate it is installed on.

When choosing between an SPC floor, click vinyl, glue-down vinyl, three-layer parquet or solid parquet, the condition of the substrate and the conditions in the space must be checked first.

Cracks in the substrate
The substrate must be free of cracks, voids and structural damage. Problems left below the floor very often telegraph through to the finished surface later on.
CM device for moisture measurement
Taking a sample from the depth of the substrate
Before choosing a system, it is necessary to determine whether the substrate is dry enough for the floor to be installed. The measurement is performed with a CM device and a sample taken from the depth of the substrate (CM method).
Instrument showing favourable room conditions
Besides the substrate, the conditions in the space are also checked, because room temperature and air humidity directly influence how the floor behaves.
CONCLUSION

The right floor is not just a question of décor, but of choosing the entire system correctly, based on the actual condition of the building.
